COLLEGE PARK, GA—The College Park Skyhawks used a 38-point fourth quarter to beat the Erie BayHawks at home, 126-111, improving to 13-10 on the season in the process. With the win, the Skyhawks continue to lead the Southeast Division and even the season series with Erie to 1-1. Video highlights of the game can be found here.
Erie shot it well to open the game, hitting six from beyond the arc to go up by 14 at the end the quarter. College Park opened the second quarter on an 8-0 run to cut into the deficit, fueled by six points quick points from Nick Ward. The home team took the lead with just over one minute to play in the first half and the teams headed into the break tied at 51 apiece. College Park went up by as many as 11 in the third, but Erie refused to go away easily and cut the lead to six at the end of the quarter. After trading buckets with the BayHawks in the opening minutes of the final quarter, the Skyhawks pulled away, thanks in part to timely plays by Cat Barber and Armoni Brooks.
Ward led the Skyhawks, scoring a career-high 25 points and pulling down 10 rebounds to record a double-double. Barber neared a triple-double, scoring 22 points to go with 12 assists and eight rebounds. Tahjere McCall, Jordan Sibert and Kenny Gabriel added 13 points apiece. Brooks was 2-2 from deep and finished with 15 points, 10 of which came in the fourth quarter. Marcus Derrickson added nine and Phil Cofer and Mark Ogden, Jr. each added seven to round out the scoring effort. College Park dominated in the paint, outscoring Erie 82-52 inside.
