CEDAR PARK, Texas –The Oklahoma City Blue (12-16) defeated the Austin Spurs (15-11), 125-116, on Tuesday night.
An alley-oop dunk by Kadeem Jack with 1:25 remaining sealed the win for the Blue following two missed three-point attempts by Spurs guard Quinndary Weatherspoon with a chance to bring the game within one possession. The Spurs had cut the Blue lead to five points after facing a 12-point deficit at the beginning of the fourth quarter.
DeVaughn Akoon-Purcell scored a career-high 33 points on 12-of-16 shooting and added seven rebounds and two steals off the bench for Oklahoma City. Abdul Gaddy recorded a double-double, scoring 23 points and dishing out a game-high 10 assists. Devon Hall added 23 points to go along with five rebounds and five assists.
The Blue trailed by nine at the end of the first following a back-and-forth start to the game. After closing the second quarter on an 18-6 run, the Blue took a six-point advantage going into the half. The gap would widen to as many as 16 points during the second half and was too much for the Spurs to overcome.
Two-way player Kevin Hervey had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Vincent Edwards and Markel Brown also scored in double figures with 14 and 10 points, respectively.
The Blue shot 8-for-9 from three in the second quarter and finished with 18 total three-pointers compared to the Spurs eight.
Austin was led by Luka Samanic, who had a team-high 23 points and 12 rebounds.
