SALT LAKE CITY — The Oklahoma City Blue (14-17) defeated the Salt Lake City Stars (21-9), 111-108, on Saturday night.
Abdul Gaddy’s mid-range jump shot with 33 seconds remaining broke a 105-all tie and gave the Blue the lead. Oklahoma City then made all four free throws down the stretch. Justin Wright-Forman’s three-point attempt for the Stars with 0.3 seconds left would not fall as the Blue would hold on to win in Salt Lake City for the second straight night.
The Blue were led by Kadeem Jack, who had 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting with nine rebounds and two steals. Gaddy added a double-double with 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting and 12 assists. Vincent Edwards also had a double-double with 11 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.
The Stars held a nine-point lead at the half but that was quickly erased as the Blue started the third quarter by going on a 23-3 run to gain an 11-point lead midway through the frame. The Blue held a three-point lead going into the fourth and would ultimately win by the same margin.
Oklahoma City had a balanced attack with seven players scoring in double figures. Devon Hall had 16 points, seven assists, and four rebounds. Myke Henry shot 7-of-9 from the field en route to his own 16 points. DeVaughn Akoon-Purcell matched those 16 points and had six rebounds off the bench.
The Blue out-rebounded the Stars 48-38 and outscored them in the paint 58-44.
Salt Lake City was led by Nigel Williams-Goss, who tallied a game-high 21 points and six assists.
