SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Stars fell to the Sioux Falls Skyforce 104-99 in the final contest of their six-game homestand tonight.
The Skyforce were led by Miami HEAT two-way player Gabe Vincent, who scored a game-high 27 points on 7-of-10 (.700) from the field and 5-of-8 (.625) from beyond the arc. Mychal Mulder added 22 points, while Davon Reed (13 points and 11 rebounds) and Marcus Lee (12 points and 11 rebounds) each tallied double-doubles.
The Stars were paced by Utah Jazz two-way player Jarrell Brantley, who tallied 23 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Fellow Jazz two-way player Justin Wright-Foreman added 22 points on 7-of-12 (.583) shooting. Miye Oni, currently on assignment from the Jazz, finished with 13 points, five rebounds and five assists.
Sioux Falls jumped out on a 9-0 run to begin the game and led by as many as 15 points in the second quarter (46-31), but the Stars trimmed the lead by six points at intermission (48-42). The Skyforce extended their lead to a game-high 19 points (77-58) late in the third quarter and took a 17-point lead heading into the final frame (82-65). The Stars outscored the Skyforce 34-22 in the final period and narrowed Sioux Falls’ lead to three points with 14.7 seconds left (102-99). Bubu Palo knocked down two clutch free throws down the stretch and the Skyforce pulled away with the victory.
