ERIE, Penn. — The Erie BayHawks escaped with a 127-124 overtime victory over the Windy City Bulls on Thursday evening, thanks to a game-winning three-pointer from Tony Carr with 0.4 seconds left.
Following a missed free throw from Aubrey Dawkins with 8.2 seconds remaining, Dawkins corralled his own rebound and kicked it out to Jalen Adams, who then found a wide-open Carr on the left wing.
Carr finished the contest with a season-high 19 points on 4-7 shooting from distance and three rebounds in 22 minutes off the bench.
A combined team effort also propelled Erie (10-24) to victory, as six BayHawks scored in double figures, led by Zylan Cheatham and Vitto Brown.
Cheatham had a dominant performance tonight, as the two-way forward registered his first 20-20 game of his career with 20 points and a season-high 21 rebounds.
A thorn in the side for the BayHawks all night, however, was the play from Bulls guard Milton Doyle. Down six with 53 seconds remaining, Doyle connected on back-to-back threes to help Windy City extend the game to overtime.
In a game-high 41 minutes of action, Doyle notched a game-high 32 points, a game-high tying six assists and five rebounds.
After training 119-124 late in overtime, Brown sparked Erie’s 8-0 run to end the game with a four-point play after being fouled on a corner three with just under 23 seconds left. Brown finished the contest with a team-high tying 24 points, eight rebounds and four assists in a team-high 39 minutes.
Another notable outing for Windy City was Tre’Darius McCallum, who logged 18 points, five rebounds and a game-high four steals in 26 minutes as a reserve.
The BayHawks will have five days of rest before squaring off with the Bulls again on Thursday, Feb. 20.
