CEDAR PARK, Texas – The Oklahoma City Blue (20-21) fell to the Austin Spurs (24-17), 117-114, on Sunday afternoon.
After being down by as much as 22 in the game, Oklahoma City fought back and took a lead 110-109 on a Tyler Cook layup with 4:28 left in the game. The teams would go back and forth down the stretch, with the game coming down to the last possession. Kevin Hervey’s corner three-pointer would not fall for the Blue in the final seconds as the Spurs would hold on to win by three.
Hervey led the Blue with 22 points on 8-of-18 shooting, including six three-pointers, and added five assists, four rebounds and two steals. Scotty Hopson added 19 points on 5-of-5 shooting from beyond the arc and six rebounds. Kadeem Jack recorded a career-high 21 rebounds to go with his eight points and two steals.
Austin built their lead due to a 12-0 run to start the second quarter. The Blue countered with a 19-4 run led by three Hervey three-pointers to cut the lead down to seven but would trail by 15 at the half. After a slow start to the third, the Blue went on a 17-5 run to bring the game within four in the quarter and trailed by six going into the fourth.
DeVaughn Akoon-Purcell led the Oklahoma City bench with 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting and six rebounds. Myke Henry was another one of six Blue players in double figures, scoring 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting.
Austin was led by Dedric Lawson., who scored a game-high 33 points on 12-of-15 shooting to go with his 10 rebounds.
