LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — The Iowa Wolves (0-5), the NBA G League affiliate of the Minnesota Timberwolves, dropped their fifth contest of the season, falling to the undefeated Delaware Blue Coats (5-0), by a score of 111-133 tonight at AdventHealth Arena.
It was a balanced effort from both teams in the first half, with Iowa shooting 52.2% from the field in the first half, while the Blue Coats shot 51.2%. Delaware held the slight advantage at halftime, leading 65-58, largely due to a 62.5% free throw advantage over Iowa’s 50%. Canyon Barry led Iowa at the half with 16 points, hitting 4-of-7 from behind the arc, and 6-of-11 overall.
The Blue Coats took over in the 3rd quarter, going on a 24-to-11 run in the first 8:00 of the period. Overall Delaware outscored Iowa 38-20 in the quarter. Iowa paced with Delaware 33-30 in the fourth quarter but could not overcome the early game lead by Delaware.
Lindell Wigginton led Iowa with 19 points and added 5 assists. Zylan Cheatham added a season-high 10 points and led Iowa with 9 rebounds. Five other Wolves also contributed double digits in points scored in the loss.
Paul Reed tallied a double-double to lead Delaware with 27 points and 14 rebounds. Reed tied Jordan Bone with 6 assists. Bone also added 23 points, coming off the bench.
