REUNION, FL – Louis King of the Westchester Knicks scored nine of the team’s final 11 points in overtime spotlighting the 121-113 OT victory over G League Ignite Thursday evening, at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort. The win severs a two-game skid for the Knicks.
King, an affiliate player, followed up his season-high 22-point performance last night with 18 points tonight on 50-percent shooting (5-for-10). Specifically, King shot 4-for-6 from distance with the final three triples drained to commence the lone overtime period.
After being sidelined for three games nursing a right ankle sprain, New York Knicks Two-Way player, Jared Harper, returned for a 16-point and 11-assist outing. Heading into tonight, New York Knicks assignee, Ignas Brazdeikis, was the league’s scoring leader and added 21 more points to his resume. Brazdeikis also finished with 10 boards. Myles Powell (17), Tyler Hall (16), and Justin Patton (15) also scored in double-figures. Patton added a game-high 11 rebounds.
For the opposition, Donta Hall led Ignite with 19 points on 66.7-percent shooting and 10 rebounds. Jalen Green had 15 points.
The Knicks (3-3) faced deficits as large as eight in the first quarter, despite crediting a three-point lead of their own, and a 15-point hole in the second quarter without a lead to counter. After trailing Ignite (4-2) by seven at the intermission, Westchester outscored them 51-44 to force the extra session.
Ignite went ahead by seven with 7:49 remaining in regulation until a finger-roll by Hall cut their lead to five. A Powell trey on the feed from Patton would force Ignite to call for time but unlucky possessions by the club and a two-point conversion at the stripe for King tied the contest at 98-apiece. Neither team escaped the other by more than three and Patton’s free-throws and empty sets for both the Knicks and Ignite put two more minutes onto the clock.
From that point, King caught fire ultimately mounting the insurmountable advantage.
Westchester returns to play the Austin Spurs on Feb. 20 at 7:00 PM ET.
