LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (Feb. 20, 2021) – The Rio Grande Valley Vipers (3-4) scored 40 points in the first quarter which set the tone for a big win over Long Island Nets (2-5) 105-90 on Saturday afternoon at the HP Field House. Houston Rockets assignee Kevin Porter Jr. scored 20 points in the first quarter – the highest he’s scored in a quarter in his career.
Porter Jr. led the game with 29 points, four rebounds, five assists and a pair of blocks. He shot 52.4% from the field and 40.0% from beyond the arc. Rockets assignee KJ Martin recorded his sixth consecutive double-double as he racked up 18 points, 12 rebounds, adding three assists and two steals.
From off the bench, Josh Reaves tallied 21 points, five rebounds, three assists and a pair of steals while shooting 58.3% from the field and 44.4% from beyond the arc. Armoni Brooks totaled 17 points, five rebounds, three assists and shooting 50.0% from beyond the arc.
The Vipers outrebounded the Nets 49-47 while shooting 47.6% from the field.
For Long Island, BJ Johnson led the way with 24 points, 10 rebounds and two assists. Jeremiah Martin racked up 20 points, five rebounds, three assists and four steals.
