WILMINGTON – DECEMBER 4, 2021 – The Delaware Blue Coats (7-1), the NBA G League affiliate of the Philadelphia 76ers, defeated the Long Island Nets (2-6), 125-110, on Saturday night at Chase Fieldhouse. Eight Blue Coats scored in double figures en route to the team’s fifth consecutive win. Delaware improves to 4-0 at home.
Jaden Springer, on assignment from the 76ers, poured in 20 points and 5 steals. Paul Reed, also on assignment from the 76ers, stuffed the stat sheet with 13 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 blocks, and a pair of steals.
76ers two-way contract player Aaron Henry added 16 points (6-13 FG, 4-8 3FG). Shaquille Harrison led the Blue Coats in scoring with 23 points (8-14 FG, 2-6 3FG, 3-4 FT) and 7 rebounds.
Shamorie Ponds, the first pick of the 2021-2022 NBA G League Draft, notched 13 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. Delaware’s Charlie Brown Jr. chipped in 10 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists.
Delaware held the lead for the final 45 minutes of the game, building as much as a 20-point lead. The Blue Coats, first in the G League in steals, racked up 14 steals.
Kessler Edwards led the Nets with 23 points (9-18 FG, 3-10 3FG) along with 17 rebounds. Day’Ron Sharpe posted 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists.
