LAS VEGAS – DECEMBER 21, 2021 – The Delaware Blue Coats, the NBA G League affiliate of the Philadelphia 76ers, defeated the South Bay Lakers, 122-108 on Tuesday night at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. Delaware advances to the championship game of the NBA G League Winter Showcase Cup. All told, the Blue Coats have won 11 straight games and 13 out of 14 contests played this season.
Haywood Highsmith led the Blue Coats with 30 points (12-21 FG, 5-12 3FG), 7 rebounds, and 3 assists. Delaware’s Jarron Cumberland notched a triple-double with 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.
Braxton Key poured in 21 points, 13 rebounds, and 4 assists for the Blue Coats. Lamine Diane tallied 19 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 assists off the bench.
Delaware’s Jared Brownridge posted 15 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists in a team-high 39 minutes. Demarcus Holland put up 14 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals for the Blue Coats.
Delaware used a 35-23 third quarter to take control of the game. The Blue Coats led by as many as 21 points, and held the lead wire-to-wire.
Paris Bass led the Lakers with 29 points (11-21 FG, 1-3 3FG, 4-4 FT), 13 rebounds, and 4 assists. South Bay’s Cameron Oliver posted a double-double with 27 points and 15 rebounds.
