Two-way player Arnoldas Kulboka scored a game-high 23 points while the Greensboro Swarm bench added 49 points en route to a victory over the Capital City Go-Go (Washington Wizards affiliate) 108-94 on Monday at the Fieldhouse at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex. The win splits the two-game set between the Swarm (3-2) and Go-Go (4-2).
Kulboka finished the game by going 7-of-10 from the field, including draining five 3-pointers. He also pulled down five rebounds over the course of his 32 minutes of action. He has scored 20-plus points six times this season, more than any other player on the roster.
The Swarm started the game well, jumping to a 32-21 first quarter lead. The lead ballooned up to 26 points (56-30) during the second quarter as the Greensboro offense shot a staggering 56 percent in the first half.
However, the pesky visitors fought back with a big third quarter and strong start to the fourth. Capital City outscored Greensboro 31-18 in the third, including a 9-4 run that carried into the fourth. The Go-Go pulled within one-possession four times during the fourth quarter however the Swarm defense did not allow a made basket in the final 5:49 of the contest (only Go-Go points came via free throws), which put an end to any hope of a comeback.
Jordan Schakel (21 points, five rebounds) was the leading scorer for Capital City. Jaime Echenique (16 points, eight rebounds), Isaiah Todd (15 points, six rebounds) and Joel Ayayi (11 points, nine assists) were the others to score in double figures for the Go-Go.
Greensboro had a trio of double-digit scorers off the bench. Cameron McGriff (17 points, six rebounds, five assists), DJ Carton (16 points) and Jalen Crutcher (12 points, six assists, three steals) stepped up in their reserve minutes. In addition to Kulboka, starters Scottie Lewis (13 points) and Xavier Sneed (10 points) had performances of 10-plus.
The game was played without fans due to winter weather conditions in Greensboro.
The Swarm are back to action on Saturday, January 22, when the Delaware Blue Coats (Philadelphia 76ers affiliate) visit the Fieldhouse for a 7:00 p.m. ET game.
