COLLEGE PARK, Ga. – The College Park Skyhawks (7-11) lost to the Delaware Blue Coats (12-5) 113-102 in a close competition that featured 13 lead changes throughout the game.
The Blue Coats came out firing at the start by going .500% from the field and took an 11-point lead in the first quarter. The Skyhawks battled back and outscored the Blue Jackets 34-22 in the second quarter, led by 15 points from Marcus Georges-Hunt in the second frame alone. The Georgia Tech product finished the game with 22 points, tying his season high.
Delaware regained control by outscoring College Park 59-47 in the second half. Six different players for the Blue Coats hit double-digit scoring with Myles Powell leading his team with 23 points.
Will Davis made his Skyhawks debut and went .600% from the field while securing five rebounds. Cat Barber led the team with 23 points and recorded nine assists and five rebounds in his second game back from being injured.
“It was a tough one, but I liked our energy and effort tonight,” said Skyhawks Head Coach Steve Gansey. “We just have to play smarter against a tough team in Delaware because they are one of the top teams.”
The Skyhawks will travel to the Raptors 905 on Wednesday, March 2 for its first trip of the season to Ontario. The two teams previously met on Dec. 16 during the Showcase portion of the schedule, when the Skyhawks won 120-104 with the help of a season-high performance of 32 points from Hawks forward Jalen Johnson as well as 27 points from forward DaQuan Jeffries.
