CLEVELAND – The Cleveland Charge (3-16) of the NBA G League, presented by Cleveland Clinic, were defeated in overtime by the Long Island Nets (16-8), 120-119, at the Wolstein Center on Sunday afternoon.
The Charge were led by Cameron Young’s 28 points on 11-of-16 shooting in 39 minutes. Dylan Windler put up his fourth double-double of the season on assignment from the Cavaliers by scoring 26 points and grabbing 16 rebounds with three steals in 39 minutes. Justin James scored 16 points, grabbed six rebounds, dished sixed assists and grabbed two steals in 29 minutes. Malik Newman and Tacko Fall each added 16 points for Cleveland.
Long Island’s Tyrone Wallace scored a game-high 33 points with five boards, eight assists, three steals and two blocks in 41 minutes. Craig Randall scored 27 points on 6-of-18 shooting line from three-point range with six rebounds and four steals in 46 minutes. Thon Maker came off the bench to add 20 points, six boards and a pair of blocks in 26 minutes. Day’Ron Sharpe had a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds with three blocks in 35 minutes.
Sharpe hit the first bucket of OT and after a Charge turnover, Wallace hit a layup to put the nets up 120-116. Cleveland’s Cam Young earned three from the foul line on the next possession to cut it to 120-119 with 30.6 seconds to go. The Charge defense got a stop on the next possession and a chance to win it, but Newman’s driving layup to the right came off the rim.
