BRIDGEPORT, CT – March 8, 2022 – The Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks outlasted the Greensboro Swarm, 106-102, Tuesday night at Total Mortgage Arena.
Dewan Hernandez (returning rights) secured his 13th double-double of the season and led the way for the Knicks (12-10) with 31 points and 10 rebounds. In his debut with the team, Tra Holder (available player pool) dropped 21 points, hitting 3-4 from distance, along with four assists. Tyler Hall (returning rights) went for 18 points, six rebounds, and a team-high five assists. Louis King (returning rights) continued his all-around play with 14 points, four rebounds, three assists, and three steals.
Greensboro (6-16) was led by 20 points from Scottie Lewis. Cameron McGriff had 18 points, while Kai Jones finished with 16 points and 16 rebounds.
Hernandez scored the game’s opening basket en route to 11 first quarter points. The contest was tight early on, before the hosts used a 16-6 burst to take a 40-28 advantage after one.
Westchester’s lead hovered around ten for most of the second. King and Holder each hit a triple in the final 67 seconds of the half to give the Knicks their largest lead of the game, 64-48 going to the locker room.
Things got interesting in the third, as the visitors battled back to regain the lead, 71-69 with 4:18 on the clock in the quarter. The Swarm outscored the home team 31-8 in the period and led 79-72 heading to the fourth.
In the final frame, the hosts came all the way back to reclaim the lead 103-102 with 1:47 left to play. Hall hit a three with 1:11 remaining, and the Knicks used their defense to close out the four-point victory.
The Knicks will welcome the Capital City Go-Go to Bridgeport on Thursday, March 10 at 7 PM ET.
