905 STRIKE GOLD, WIN SIXTH IN A ROW
Raptors 905 (23-7), NBA G League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors, defeated the Grand Rapids Gold (17-13) 111-103 Tuesday evening. The 905 were paced by Raptors’ assignee Isaac Bonga who put up 22 points, 15 rebounds, two assists, two steals, and a block in the match. Grand Rapids was led by Petr Cornelie who put up a 22-point, 10 rebound performance in defeat.
The two teams exchanged baskets in the opening 12 minutes with the 905 outscoring the Gold 28-25 going into the second frame. The 905 built off their momentum, opening the second quarter on a 7-0 run before eventually expanding their lead to as many as 20 points. However, a team effort led by Devonte Bandoo (20 points, four rebounds, four assists) allowed Grand Rapids to bring the game within 12 points going into the second half.
The two teams continued to trade baskets to open the half, until the 905 went on a 13-4 run, eventually outscoring the home side 32-26, going into the final 12 minutes. Down 18 in the final frame, the Gold were able to fight back bringing the game within 5 in the final 41 seconds but the 905’s defense eventually sealed the game.
The 905 received complementary scoring from Ashton Hagans who put up a near triple-double with 15 points, eight rebounds, and 10 assists. Quade Green added 21 points, seven assists, and two steals to the stat sheet for the Gold.
The 905 wrap up their road trip in Long Island as they take on the Nets Thursday, while the Gold open a double-header against College Park Friday, both games scheduled for a 7:00 pm tip.
