Raptors 905 (1-0), NBA G League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors, defeated the Capital City Go Go (1-1) 131-126 in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. The 905 were led by Raptors’ assignee Dalano Banton who put up 25 points, 11 rebounds, seven assists, a steal, and a block. The Go Go were led by Jordan Goodwin who put up a game-high 25 points, six rebounds, and six assists in the loss.
The 905 took control of the ball game in the first behind 10 points and eight rebounds from Banton, giving the 905 the 35-23 lead. The 905 were able to build off their momentum as they went up by as many as 18 points early in the second quarter, before Capital City mounted their comeback bid. The Go Go went on a 21-5 run going into the half spearheaded by Goodwin’s 20 second-quarter points to take the lead.
Down three to open the half, the home side fought back with 14 of the 33 points coming at the hands of Justin Champagnie (29 points, three rebounds, three steals) as the 905 brought the game within one going into the final frame. After a tense back and forth, Champagnie made a layup to give the 905 a 123-121 lead before Jaime Echenique quickly retaliated with a layup of his own to take the game into overtime.
In overtime, a strong defensive effort from the 905 allowed them to hold the Go Go to just three points, sealing the win for the home side.
The 905 received complementary scoring from Kevon Harris who added 25 points, nine rebounds, two assists, a steal, and a block in the victory. Cassius Winston paced the Go Go with 28 points, two rebounds, and two assists in the match.
The Raptors 905 will now host the winner of the Delaware vs. Motor City match in the Eastern Conference Finals Sunday, tip-off scheduled for 7:00 pm
