NBA G League 101: Two-Way Contracts
Beginning in the 2017 offseason, NBA rosters expanded from 15 to 17 players with the addition of two spots for players under "Two-Way Contracts."
NBA teams may have up to three players under NBA Two-Way Contracts who will spend the bulk of the season in the NBA G League and not play more than 50 games with their NBA team. The annual salary for a Two-Way Contract is equal to 50% of the NBA minimum salary applicable a player with zero NBA Years of Service (i.e., $636,435 for 2025-26). If a Two-Way Contract is signed during the NBA Regular Season, that amount is prorated based on the number of days remaining in the NBA Regular Season. Only players in their fourth NBA season or earlier are able to sign Two-Way Contracts, which can be for either one or two seasons.
