MISSISSAUGA, ONT. — Portland Trail Blazers assignee and Former Purdue Boilermaker Caleb Swanigan was a bright spot for the Canton Charge in at the NBA G League Showcase, tallying back-to-back double-doubles.
Since Portland does not have a NBA G League affiliate team, he is assigned to Canton for the time being, but still can be recalled by Portland. When asked how he felt about playing with a new crop of players in Canton, Swanigan maintained it was business as usual.
“At the end of the day it is basketball,” he said. “We all have the same goals. We want to compete and get to that next level, so I don’t think it’s different.”
During his time with Canton, Swanigan will get the chance to learn from NBA veteran Kendrick Perkins, who is playing for the Charge this season. “That has been great,” Swanigan said. “He has been in the NBA for a number of years, so to learn from him about the game has really been cool.”
The 14-year NBA veteran had some kind words about the rookie, as well.
“It’s been a pleasure working with him,” said Perkins. “He is an open-minded guy with a high IQ. He knows how to play the game the right way.”
