Daniel Hamilton, a two-way player for the Oklahoma City Thunder, once again impressed this week at the 2018 NBA G League Showcase. His Oklahoma City Blue went 2-0, finishing their week Friday with a 121-110 victory over the Long Island Nets (G League affiliate for the Brooklyn Nets).
Hamilton began the Showcase with a triple-double of 19 points, 13 rebounds and 13 assists in a win over the Fort Wayne Mad Ants (affiliate of the Indiana Pacers), including the game-winning dish to fellow two-way guard P.J. Dozier as time expired.
Hamilton has been on a tear all season, and he understood this week was a prime opportunity to continue to impress those involved with the NBA.
“This definitely was a huge week,” he said. “I wanted to come in focused, in shape, and hopefully get two wins, which we ended up doing.”
Hamilton has been dishing the ball out exceptionally well all season, looking like a natural point guard. However, playing the position has been new for him this season, and he has enjoyed the transition.
“I think the season has been going well. Getting the chance to play point guard has been new for me, and it has been a learning experience. It has definitely helped me build on my game and learn new things out there on the court,” said Hamilton.
As the Showcase comes to a close for Hamilton and the Oklahoma City Blue, the mindset won’t change for the stud guard moving forward: Continue to play excellent basketball, and lead his team to as many wins as possible.
