Energy, BayHawks Trade Point Guards Kalin Lucas, Lewis Jackson

Des Moines, Iowa (Dec. 19, 2016) – The Iowa Energy announced today that they have acquired guard Lewis Jackson and Erie’s 2017 NBA D-League third round draft pick in exchange for guard Kalin Lucas.

Jackson (5-10, 165, Purdue), has appeared in six games this season, averaging 5.5 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 19 minutes per game.

A Decatur, Ill. native, Jackson played all four years at Purdue University, finishing his career ranked second in school history in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.15) and seventh in assists (456). Jackson was selected in the fifth round of the 2013 NBA D-League draft by the Sioux Falls Skyforce. Over three seasons in the D-League, Jackson has averaged 8.2 points, 6.4 assists and 3.6 rebounds in 26.6 minutes per game.

Jackson’s first opportunity to suit up for the Energy comes amidst a five-game home stand, as the Energy take on the Santa Cruz Warriors Tuesday, Dec. 20.

Erie BayHawks Release

The Erie BayHawks have acquired guard Kalin Lucas (6-1, 186) from the Iowa Energy in exchange for guard Lewis Jackson and the team’s 2017 NBA Development League third-round draft pick. The trade is pending the completion of physicals.

In 14 games with the Energy this season, Lucas is averaging 16.9 points, 5.1 assists, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.1 steals-per-game. Lucas, a former Michigan State Spartan, began his professional career with Olympiacos (Greek Basket League) and Banvit (Turkey) in the 2011-12 season. He played with the San Antonio Spurs in the 2012 NBA Summer League but was later waived and rejoined Banvit. After being signed and later waived by the Chicago Bulls in the 2013-14 season, he was acquired by the Iowa Energy as an affiliate player. As a member of the Iowa Energy in the 2014-15 season, he appeared in one game for the Memphis Grizzlies. After being waived, he signed with TED Ankara Kolejliler (Turkish Basketball League) where he spent last season, and averaged 15.07 points, 4.73 assists, and 3.0 rebounds.
