FRISCO, Tex., (Oct. 18, 2018) – The Texas Legends have acquired the returning player rights to C.J. Leslie and Kennedy Meeks in a trade with the Raptors 905. In return, Texas sends returning player rights to Kyle Collinsworth.
Leslie (6-9, 205, NC State) last played with the 905 in the 2016-17 season, averaging 11.4 points, 6.0 rebounds in 45 regular season games and posting 13.7 points, 5.8 rebounds in the playoffs to help lead the team to their first G League Championship. The North Carolina native played three years at NC State earning ACC honors each season. As a rookie, Leslie played with the Erie Bayhawks before being acquired by the Idaho Stampede in a trade, averaging 12.1 points, 5.8 rebounds with both teams. Leslie spent last season in Turkey where he averaged 18.6 points, 8.7 rebounds in 36 games with Antalya BSB.
Meeks (6-10, 277, North Carolina) played four seasons for the Tar Heels averaging 10.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks in 144 career games. The Charlotte native went undrafted in the 2017 NBA Draft but was signed to the Toronto Raptors training camp roster and later allocated to the 905. In 45 regular season games with the 905 last season, the rookie forward averaged 12.8 points, 9.5 rebounds and earned G League Showcase Second Team honors. Meeks also joined Legends forward Jameel Warney and guard Donald Sloan on Team USA for the 2017 Americas World Cup Qualifier.
