The Westchester Knicks (affiliate of the New York Knicks) are set to host the Wisconsin Herd (affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks) in Saturday’s Twitch matchup (5 PM ET). To get you set for the contest, here is a breakdown of each team’s top scorer.
Trey Burke, Westchester Knicks
The 9th-overall pick in the 2013 draft is on an incredible pace to begin the season. Burke, who played for the Jazz and Wizards in the NBA before landing with the Knicks this season, is averaging the NBA G League’s third-best 26.6 points per game in 20 games this season. He has added 5.6 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.9 steals in those games, and is shooting 50.1 percent from the field.
Burke, who has been named the G League Player of the Week in each of the past two weeks, has scored 20 or more points in all but three games this season, including six 30-plus games. Burke dropped a season-high 43 points in his second game of the season, a narrow 113-111 victory over the Delaware 87ers.
Xavier Munford, Wisconsin Herd
Munford went undrafted in 2014 out of the University of Rhode Island, where he became the fastest player in school history to reach 1,000 career points. Since going pro, Munford has played for the Northern Arizona Sun (then Bakersfield Jam), the Greensboro Swarm and the Herd in the G League. In 2016, he earned a Gatorade Call-Up to the Memphis Grizzlies where he played in 14 regular season games and four playoff contests.
In 14 games, the 2016 NBA G League All-Star has recorded a G League sixth-best 24.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.9 assists, along with the league’s eighth-best 2.1 steals per contest. Munford is coming off a 22 point, 10 rebound double-double, in which he added four assists and three steals.
