College: Texas Tech (2014-2018)

Height/Weight: 6-foot-3, 190 pounds

College Breakdown: Keenan Evans went from relatively unknown his freshman, sophomore, and junior year to a Consensus Second-Team All-American his senior season. Evans averaged 17.6 points, 3.2 assists and 3.1 rebounds per game on 47.1 percent shooting from the field (32.0 percent from beyond the arc). The Richardson, Texas-native finished 2nd in the Big 12 last season in points per game (17.6 PPG) and 4th in total points (633). He was named to the 2018 NCAA East Region All-NCAA Tournament Team and was a Wooden Award semifinalist.

Scouting Report: Evans is a shoot-first guard with unbelievable strength and defensive instincts for his size. He can get a bucket from anywhere on the floor and scored at least 20 points in 14 of the 36 games he played for Texas Tech last season, along with three 30-plus point performances. Evans uses his elite athleticism to score a lot of his points and is tremendous at finishing shots off balance. Evans excels at getting to the free throw line due to his ability to find his way to the rim and finish through tough contact. There’s not a spot on the floor that Evans can’t get a bucket from.

Organizational Fit: Evans will be joining the Detroit Pistons/Grand Rapids Drive organization this upcoming season and should make an immediate impact. The Drive tied their franchise record with 29 wins last season, making the playoffs for the first time since 2012. Evans will be playing under a terrific player personnel staff that recently sent Ray McCallum and Jordan Crawford to the NBA on Gatorade Call-Ups.
