Player: Theo Pinson

College: North Carolina

Height/Weight: 6-foot-6, 220 pounds

NBA Team/NBA G League Affiliate: Brooklyn Nets/Long Island Nets

College Breakdown: Theo Pinson spent four years at the University of North Carolina, but really made his impact during the 2017-2018 season. During his senior campaign, Pinson, as a forward, led the team in assists per game with 5.1. He also averaged 10.3 points per game, shooting 47.3 percent from the field. Pinson finished top 10 in the ACC last season in games played (37), defensive rebounds (187) and assists per game (5.1). Pinson posted at least seven assists in 11 of the 37 games he played during his senior year and scored double-digit points in eight of his final 11 games at UNC. His playing time went from 12.5 minutes per game during his freshman year to 29.7 minutes per game during his final season at North Carolina. Pinson was named All-ACC Honorable Mention during the 2017-2018 season.

Scouting Report: With an almost 6-foot-11-inch wingspan, Pinson is extremely intriguing as an athlete and a wing at the next level. He has a polished post game on the offensive side of the floor and can outrebound bigger, taller players on the other end. Pinson is smart defensively and can run the fastbreak by himself off of a forced turnover or steal. While there’s still room for improvement on his 3-point shot, Pinson is a solid scorer off the dribble and an excellent playmaker for his size.

Organizational Fit: The Long Island Nets have only two seasons under their belt as a team, but made big strides from the 2016-2017 season to this past year, winning 10 more games than their inaugural season. Pinson will immediately help the Nets with his playmaking skills, generating offense for his teammates. Long Island averaged the most steals per game (10.5) in the NBA G League last season and may even improve upon that number with the addition of Pinson.
