By Keith Schlosser | December 16, 2019

As the MGM Resorts NBA G League Winter Showcase approaches, players prepare to play in the biggest event of the season. With that in mind, the athletes highlighted below have already gotten off to a head start at upping their games and making valiant efforts toward garnering special attention. If this pre-Showcase success is any sign on things to come, it’s safe to say that these players are a must-watch in Las Vegas.

Los Angeles / South Bay Lakers: Devontae Cacok Bursts Onto The Two-Way Scene

Signing a newly minted Two-Way contract this past week, Cook took his well-deserved promotion in stride and clearly used the Lakers’ faith in him as motivation to elevate his quality of play even further. The organization saw something in him, and he wasted no time in validating their research. In a 2-1 week for South Bay, Cook’s string of (now six) double-doubles continued. Over this aforementioned span, the big man averaged 20.7 points, 12.7 rebounds, and 1.7 steals. He’s truly served as an athletic force whose versatility keeps the defense on its toes.

Golden State / Santa Cruz Warriors: Ky Bowman Has Strong Surf City Debut

After starting the year off by making valuable contributions for Golden State, Bowman found his way to Santa Cruz this past weekend and debuted to very impressive results. While he’s played a more complementary role up at the next level, the guard was front and center in Surf City and didn’t disappoint. Averaging a near triple-double with 22.5 points, 9.5 assists, and 8.5 rebounds, Bowman led the team to two consecutive wins to climb back to .500.

Hawks / Skyhawks: Brandon Goodwin Continues To Put Up Massive Numbers

Goodwin has served as the fearless leader for the steady Skyhawks all season long. His ability to push the pace and leave his fingerprints all over the box score on a nightly basis suggests he’s primed to make regular NBA contributions sooner than later. But for now, he’s continued to rise as a headlining attraction in College Park. This past week, he made a splash with averages of 29 points, 10.5 assists, 8.5 rebounds, 2 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game. Moreover, Goodwin connected on 11 of 19 three-point field goals, good for 58%. He beats the defense in different ways and makes his teammates better all the while.

Rockets / Vipers: Chris Clemons Gets Cozy In Houston

Clemons has made himself comfortable in Houston, appearing in six games for the Rockets through December thus far. On December 14, he tallied his highest scoring mark in over two weeks, scoring 17 points and tying a career-high with five three-point field goals. Filling out the stat-sheet even further, he grabbed a career-high four rebounds and a career-tying two steals as well. This explosive offensive spark is known for pouring in the points, and he’s already seeing such success translate in the NBA after putting some extra seasoning in his game while with Rio Grande Valley.

Mavericks / Legends: Antonius Cleveland Keeps Wowing The Crowd

Cleveland is well-known for his high-flying heroics, but this time he added some extra pizzazz on a put-back slam.
