OKLAHOMA CITY, Nov. 13, 2023 – The Oklahoma City Blue (2-1) defeated the Memphis Hustle (1-2), 118-104, on Monday evening at Paycom Center in the home opener. Jaden Shackelford connected on 11-of-14 shots from long range on his way to a game-high 35 points.
“I thought we played hard for 48 minutes tonight,” Head Coach Kameron Woods said. “I think the guys did a good job of staying ready.”
The Blue held the Hustle to just 30 percent shooting from the field in the first quarter to grab an early 28-20 lead. Oklahoma City knocked down 12-of-24 field goals in the second frame to push its lead to 58-41 at the break. Despite the Hustle trimming the lead to as few as four points in the second half, the Blue used a late run to secure the win.
Thunder assignment player Ousmane Dieng tallied 17 points and 12 rebounds while teammate KJ Williams added another double-double with 15 points and a game-high 14 rebounds. Thunder two-way player Keyontae Johnson added 14 points and four boards.
Jake LaRavia scored a team-high 24 and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the way for the Hustle. Teammate GG Jackson added 21 points and six boards.
Oklahoma City and Memphis face off again on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at 11 a.m. CT for the first of three Kids Field Trip Day games in Paycom Center.
