GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (Mar. 19, 2024) – The Grand Rapids Gold (11-19) had a tough loss to the Salt Lake City Stars (16-13) 109-127. Despite the loss, the Gold battled hard in the first half keeping the score within ten points. By the third quarter the Stars surged ahead, extending their lead by as much as 28 points. The Stars victory can be attributed to their aggressive game in the paint with 60 points compared to just 44 for the Gold. The Gold shot well from the free throw line making 83.3% compared to just 61.1% for the Stars, but it wasn’t enough to get the job done.
Jamorko Pickett came off the bench and recorded a double-double for the Gold with 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Armaan Franklin had an impressive game beyond the arc making 66.7% of his three-pointers that assisted him in getting to 28 points. Solely Boum also came off the bench hot with 15 points, 7 assists and 2 rebounds. Walter Ellis was also in the double digits with 11 points.
Two-Way player Jason Preston had an impressive all around performance for the Stars recording a triple-double of 18 points, 13 assists and 11 rebounds. Johnny Juzang was also a huge part of the Stars victory leading the team in points with  31. The Stars had two double-doubles consisting of NBA assignment player Kenneth Lofton Jr. with 21 points and 11 rebounds and Micah Potter with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
