2026-27 NBA G League Season Tips Off Nov. 6

NEW YORK, Aug. 27, 2026 – The NBA G League today released its complete game schedule for the 2026-27 season, which tips off on Friday, Nov. 6. The league’s 26th season features 31 teams, including two relocated franchises in the Coachella Valley Lakers, the affiliate of the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Laketown Squadron, the affiliate of the New Orleans Pelicans.
The NBA G League schedule will continue to be divided into two parts: Each team will play 14 games in the Tip-Off Tournament, followed by a 36-game regular season. All 31 NBA G League teams will compete in at least 50 games during the 2026-27 season.
The Tip-Off Tournament, which marks the start of the 2026-27 season, begins on Friday, Nov. 6 and culminates when a champion is crowned during the 2026 NBA G League Winter Showcase in December. For the Tip-Off Tournament, teams are placed into four regions and play 14 games exclusively against teams within their region. The teams with the best winning percentage in each region, along with the next four teams with the best winning percentages regardless of region, will advance to compete for the Championship at the NBA G League Winter Showcase. Every team will play at least two games at the Winter Showcase.
Following the Tip-Off Tournament, team records will reset before the 36-game regular season, which begins at the Winter Showcase. At the conclusion of the regular season, the top eight teams in each conference will qualify for the NBA G League Playoffs presented by Google, which conclude with the NBA G League Finals in April 2027.
Key dates during the 2026-27 season include:
- Nov. 6 – The defending G League champion Greensboro Swarm (Charlotte Hornets) opens its season at home on the first night of the season against the Long Island Nets (Brooklyn Nets).
- Nov. 6 – The defending Tip-Off Tournament champion Salt Lake City Stars (Utah Jazz) open their title defense on the road against the Coachella Valley Lakers (Los Angeles Lakers), who play their first game in their new home.
- Nov. 8 – The Laketown Squadron (New Orleans Pelicans) opens its inaugural season on the road against the Austin Spurs (San Antonio Spurs).
- Nov. 14 – The Laketown Squadron (New Orleans Pelicans) hosts the Mexico City Capitanes its first home game at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner, Louisiana.
- Dec. 19-22 – The 2026 NBA G League Winter Showcase takes place at Hyatt Regency Orlando and the Orlando Convention Center.
- Week of Apr. 5 – The 2027 NBA G League Finals begin.
Additionally, the 2026-27 NBA G League calendar features several league-wide Social Impact & Inclusion initiatives, including NBA Cares Season of Giving in November and December, Martin Luther King Jr. Day games in January, Black History Month in February, and Women’s History Month in March.
