Austin Spurs Name Chris Kent Head Coach

AUSTIN (Sept. 10, 2026) – The Austin Spurs today announced Chris Kent as the team's new head coach, making him the 12th head coach in franchise history.

Kent joins Austin after serving as assistant coach and director of player development at Florida State University during the 2025-26 season, helping guide the Seminoles to an 18-15 record, including a 10-8 mark in ACC play. Prior to Florida State, Kent spent two seasons (2023-25) as an assistant coach with the Rip City Remix.

Kent began his coaching career as a coaching intern with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants from 2013-15 before joining Florida State as a graduate assistant. He later served as director of player development at the University of South Florida during the 2017-18 season before joining the Chicago Bulls in 2018 as a coaching intern. Kent was promoted to video coordinator in 2019 and spent three seasons in the role before serving as an assistant coach with the Windy City Bulls during the 2022-23 season.

A native of Angola, Indiana, Kent played in college at both Huntington University and Trine University before beginning his coaching career.
