Best Games To Watch This Week: Nov. 14
Joe DiProsperos /November 14, 2022
Another week, another full slate of NBA G League action on tap.
The second full week of the G League season will be featuring plenty of key in-division matchups as well as teams looking to build upon positive starts.
Here's what will be worth paying attention to over the next few days.
Texas Legends v. Mexico City Capitanes (Nov. 14 at 9 pm/et on NBAGLeague.com)
It’s a matchup of the young season’s top-rated offense in the Legends and top-rated defense in the Capitanes. Jaden Hardy and McKinley Wright IV, both of whom are averaging better than 25 points per game, have been spearheading a Texas team that has scored more than 120 points in all of its three games. On the other hand, Mexico City has held its opponents to just 38.6% shooting overall, including 27.4% from three-point range, so far this season. Former NBA-ers Mason Jones, Gary Clark, Shabazz Napier and Jahlil Okafor have all provided solid contributions right out the gate.
College Park Skyhawks v. Capital City Go-Go (Nov. 15 at 7 pm/et on ESPN+)
Two East Division squads off to very strong starts will be going head-to-head for the first time this year. The Go-Go are currently riding a three-game winning streak, which most recently included a sweep of their two matchups with the Delaware Blue Coats. Former NBA first-rounder Kris Dunn has proven to be a difference-maker over this current stretch, logging a 24-point, 10-rebound, 8-assist effort in a victory over Delaware on Nov. 12. Capital City will surely need all the production they can get from him against College Park, which boasts a trio of 20-point-per-game scorers in Brandon Williams, Armoni Brooks and A.J. Lawson.
G League Ignite v. Oklahoma City Blue (Nov. 16 at 12 pm/et on ESPN+)
Ignite finally secured their first win of the season against the Santa Cruz Warriors on Nov. 12 behind a pair of dominant Scoot Henderson and Mojave King performances. In helping overcome a 24-point first-half deficit, Henderson dropped 18 points, 11 of which came in the fourth quarter, and dished out a career-high 16 assists while King had 28 points and knocked down seven threes on the night. They’ll look to continue riding the newfound momentum into a two-game set against an Oklahoma City squad that dropped 134 points against the same Ignite team to open its season.
Cleveland Charge v. Iowa Wolves (Nov. 17 at 7 pm/et on ESPN+)
A perfect 4-0 record for the Charge is about as good a start as they could’ve hoped for following an especially down 2021-22 season. The team’s newest additions are all producing at a high level: Sharife Cooper is logging more than 26 points and 6 assists per game, Jamorko Pickett is averaging a double-double (20 PTS and 14 REB) and top-overall pick Sam Merrill is shooting better than 40% from three-point range on more than six attempts per game. Meanwhile, despite dropping their last two contests, Iowa has been getting solid production from rookie 17-point-per-game scorer Josh Minott while leading point-getters Luka Garza and Wendell Moore Jr. split their time in the NBA.
