BROOKLYN – The Brooklyn Nets have signed guard Malachi Smith to a multi-year contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not released.
After signing back-to-back 10-day contracts on March 14 and March 25, Smith (6’4”, 205), has averaged 7.3 points, 2.1 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steals in 18.2 minutes per outing across his first 10 career games with Brooklyn while shooting 52.7 percent from the floor and 54.5 percent (12-of-22) from 3-point range. He set career-highs of 18 points and three steals on March 22 at Sacramento and made a career-best four 3-pointers against Atlanta on April 3, which tied the franchise record for 3-pointers made in a game by an undrafted rookie.
Smith was signed to the Nets from Brooklyn’s NBA G League affiliate, the Long Island Nets, where he appeared in 39 Tip-Off Tournament and regular season games (18 starts), recording averages of 14.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 5.7 assists in 28.7 minutes per game. The 2023 Gonzaga product spent his previous two seasons (2023-25) in the NBA G League with the Rip City Remix (2023-24), Wisconsin Herd (2024) and Memphis Hustle (2024-25).
