Official Release /April 13, 2023

Capital City Go-Go forward-center and 2022-23 Kia NBA G League Defensive Player of the Year Jay Huff leads the 2022-23 NBA G League All-Defensive Team.

Joining Huff on the NBA G League All-Defensive Team are teammate and Go-Go guard Kris Dunn, South Bay Lakers guard and 2021-22 Kia NBA G League Defensive Player of the Year Shaquille Harrison, Maine Celtics center Mfiondu Kabengele and Stockton Kings center Neemias Queta.

Huff, who signed a Two-Way contract with the Wizards on March 1, led the NBA G League with 3.1 blocks per game in the regular season in 28 games played. He also ranked second in the league for block percentage (among players with at least 20 games played) with 65.9 percent. With a rating of 16.0, Huff had the league’s third-highest player impact estimate (a metric used to gauge a player’s all-around contribution to the game). For 2022-23, Huff recorded averages of 15.0 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game along with his 3.1 blocks.

Capital City Go-Go point guard Kris Dunn was leading the G League in steals through most of the Regular Season, finishing with 2.5 steals per game and only failing to qualify as the league leader because of a late-season Call-Up to the Utah Jazz on a 10-Day contract where he eventually signed for the rest of the season. The NBA veteran also recorded 16.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game on the season.

Harrison, the 2021-22 Kia Defensive Player of the Year, put forth another stellar defensive effort with the South Bay Lakers. Through 32 games, he averaged 13.6 points, 8.3 assists, and 6.2 rebounds to go with 2.1 steals per game - good for third in the G League.

Queta spent another season on a Two-Way contract with the Stockton Kings and Sacramento Kings. The Portuguese big man finished second in Kia MVP voting and averaged 16.8 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.9 blocks per game - tied for fourth in the G League. Queta helped lead the Kings to the top seed in the Western Conference.

Kabengele paced the Maine Celtics to an appearance in the G League Playoffs, averaging 20.0 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks in 27 games while on a Two-Way deal with the Boston Celtics.

The team was selected by NBA G League head coaches and general managers.
