Celtics, Charge And Go-Go Complete Three-Team Trade

PORTLAND, ME – The Maine Celtics today announced the acquisition of NBA G League veteran guard Rob Edwards in exchange for guard Taylor Funk.

The trade was part of a three-team transaction between Maine, Cleveland, and Capital City:

  • Maine receives the player rights to Edwards and Returning Player rights to Justin James from Cleveland
  • Edwards, a 6-5 guard from Arizona State, is in his fourth season in the G League, having played in 125 career G League games between Oklahoma City (2020-22), Wisconsin (2022-23), and Cleveland (2023-24). In 16 games for the Charge this season, Edwards is averaging 9.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.9 assists in 21.9 minutes per game.

    Funk, a rookie, played in all 16 games for Maine this season. The Utah State product is averaging 7.1 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 0.9 assists in 17.5 minutes per game.

    Fitts (6-6, 230, St. Mary’s) played in 14 games during the Showcase Cup season and averaged 4.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 0.9 assists in 17.2 minutes per game.  After going undrafted in 2020, Fitts has spent time with the Los Angeles Clippers, Utah Jazz and Boston Celtics in the NBA. 

    The Maine Celtics return to action for the start of the Regular Season portion of the schedule on Dec. 27 at Oklahoma City. Maine returns home to face Grand Rapids on Sunday, Dec. 31.
