Detroit Pistons Sign Guard Colby Jones

DETROIT, Mich. (July 29, 2025) - The Detroit Pistons announced today that the team has signed guard Colby Jones to a two-way contract. Per team policy, the terms of the contract were not disclosed. In a related move, the team announced it waived forward Ron Harper Jr.
Jones, 6-6, 205, has appeared in 69 career games across two seasons for the Sacramento Kings and Washington Wizards, holding averages of 3.2 points, 1.8 rebounds and 0.9 assists on 43.5% shooting in 10.2 minutes per game.
Last season, Jones was acquired by Washington via trade on Feb. 6, 2025, where he saw action in 15 games for the Wizards and averaged 8.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists while shooting 46.6% from the floor in 25.7 minutes per game.
A native of Birmingham, Ala., Jones was selected 34th overall by the Charlotte Hornets in the 2023 NBA Draft following three seasons at Xavier University, where he was named Second Team All-Big East in 2023. In 86 career games for the Musketeers, Jones averaged 12.3 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists in 32.7 minutes per game.
Harper Jr., 6-6, 245, appeared in 23 games for the Motor City Cruise last season, NBA G League affiliate of the Detroit Pistons, and averaged 17.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.9 assists in 32.8 minutes per game. Harper Jr. has appeared in 11 career NBA games for the Detroit Pistons and Toronto Raptors.
