Grizzlies Sign Dariq Whitehead And Toby Okani To 10-Day Contracts

Memphis, Tenn. – The Memphis Grizzlies today announced the team signed forwards Dariq Whitehead (duh-REEK) and Toby Okani (oh-CON-knee)to 10-day contracts. Per team policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Whitehead (6-6, 220) has appeared in 34 games (11 starts) for the Oklahoma City Blue during the 2025-26 NBA G League Tip-Off Tournament and regular season and has averaged 11.1 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 23.4 minutes. The 21-year-old has competed in 80 NBA G League games (56 starts) over three seasons with the Blue and Long Island Nets.

A native of Newark, N.J., Whitehead was selected by the Brooklyn Nets with the 22nd overall pick in the first round of the 2023 NBA Draft following his freshman year at Duke. He has played 22 career NBA regular season games over two seasons with Brooklyn and has averaged 5.3 points and 1.5 rebounds in 12.3 minutes.

Okani (6-8, 210) has appeared in 47 games (20 starts) for the Westchester Knicks during the 2025-26 NBA G League Tip-Off Tournament and regular season and has averaged 6.4 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 21.4 minutes.

The 24-year-old Orange, N.J. native went unselected in the 2025 NBA Draft following one year at West Virginia. He also played collegiately at Duquesne (2020-22) and Illinois-Chicago (2022-24), where he was named to the 2024 Missouri Valley Conference All-Defensive Team after leading the league in blocks (2.0).
