Jason Preston Named G League Player Of The Week

Guard earns first career POTW accolade on a 3-0 week

SALT LAKE CITY (March 12, 2024) — The NBA G League announced today that Utah Jazz two-way guard Jason Preston has been named the G League Player of the Week for games played from Monday, March 4, through Sunday, March 10. Preston currently leads the G League in triple-doubles with eight this season. This marks his first Player of the Week accolade, helping the Stars to a perfect 3-0 record on the week. 

Preston (6-3, 181, Ohio) averaged a triple-double with 23.0 points on 54.0 percent shooting, 64.7 percent from downtown, to go with 12.0 rebounds and 13.0 assists during the week. Salt Lake City now stands at 14-13 in the regular season with Preston ranking second in the G League in assists per game (9.5).

Here is a closer look at the week for Preston: 

Mar. 5 vs. Texas Legends: Recorded a season-high 30 points (10-of-20 FG) including 8-of-11 from behind the arc, notching a triple-double with 11 rebounds and 14 assists, in a 136-131 victory against the Legends.

Mar. 7 vs. Texas Legends: Finished with another triple-double performance, notching 20 points on 57.0 from the field, and 66.7 from behind the arc, while grabbing an impressive 15.0 boards, and serving 12.0 assists in the team’s 127-116 win vs. the Blue.

Mar. 10 at Sioux Falls Skyforce: Logged his third-straight triple-double for the week with 19 points (8-of-14 FG), along with 13 assists and 10 rebounds, in the team’s fourth straight victory, 133-127.

The Coral Springs, Fla., native is currently averaging 17.0 points on 50.6 percent from the field, and 44.3 percent from downtown, along with 8.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 34.0 minutes per contest in the G League regular season. The 24-year-old has totaled six triple-double performances since joining the Stars in January 2024.
