Official Release /March 29, 2023

EL SEGUNDO – South Bay Lakers forward Nate Pierre-Louis has been selected as the winner of the 2022-23 Kia NBA G League Sportsmanship Award, it was announced today. The award honors the player who best represents the ideals of character and conduct on and off the court and is voted on by all the league’s players.

The Kia NBA G League Sportsmanship Award trophy is named after the late Jason Collier, who exemplified the qualities of a great teammate during his career in the NBA G League and the NBA. A 2003-04 All-NBA G League First Team selection, Collier was preparing to begin his sixth NBA season at the time of his death in 2005.

Pierre-Louis appeared in 29 regular season games with South Bay this season, averaging 8.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 18.5 minutes per game while shooting 58.5 percent from the field.

Throughout the course of his two years with South Bay, Pierre-Louis has been a consummate professional on and off the court, with his main priority always being what is best for his teammates and coaching staff. Pierre-Louis also played an integral role in the Lakers’ community service events during the season, including serving food to underprivileged communities at the Union Rescue Mission in January.

Pierre-Louis becomes the second South Bay player to win the award, and it marks the second consecutive year a South Bay player has done so after Andre Ingram earned the honor following the 2021-22 season.
