NEW YORK, March 4, 2025 – The New York Knicks announced today that the team has claimed Two-Way player Anton Watson off waivers.
Watson, 24-years-old (6-8, 235-pounds), most recently appeared in 21 games (18 starts) with the Maine Celtics this season, recording 12.0 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists over 29.9 minutes. Watson recorded a career-high 25 points on 64.2-percent shooting, seven rebounds, one assist, one block, one steal and five three-pointers vs. Greensboro Swarm (Dec 7, 2024).
The Coeur d’Alene, ID-native was originally selected by the Boston Celtics with the 54th overall pick out of Gonzaga in the 2024 NBA Draft. In his five years as a Bulldog, Watson posted 9.6 points on 58.6-percent shooting, 5.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals over 23.7 minutes in 151 games (94 starts). He earned 2024 First-Team All-WCC as a senior after averaging 14.5 points, 7.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists and 1.5 steals over 31.3 minutes in 35 games (all starts). Watson was also named 2019 Washington Mr. Basketball after averaging 21.6 points, 7.1 rebounds and 3.8 assists as a senior in high school.
