New York Knicks Sign Matt Ryan To Two-Way Contract

NEW YORK, December 24, 2024 – The New York Knicks announced today that the team has signed Matt Ryan to a two-way contract.
Ryan, 27-years-old (6-6, 215-pounds), most recently appeared in nine games with the Knicks this season. He appeared in 28 games (one start) with the New Orleans Pelicans last season, recording 5.4 points and 1.4 rebounds over 13.9 minutes. Ryan was most recently selected first overall in the 2024 NBA G League draft by the Westchester Knicks. The four-year vet holds career averages of 4.4 points, 1.0 rebounds, 0.5 assists while shooting 41.1-percent from three-pointers, over 11.2 minutes in 63 games (one start) for the Celtics, Lakers, Timberwolves and Pelicans.
The Valhalla, NY-native originally joined the Grand Rapids Gold, the Denver Nuggets G-League affiliate, during the 2021-22 season following his lone season at Chattanooga. He earned 2020 Second-Team All-SoCon after averaging 15.4 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists over 30.6 minutes in 33 games (all starts) as a senior at Chattanooga. He recorded a career-high 28 points on 46.7-percent shooting, four rebounds, four assists and five three-pointers against Samford (Jan 29, 2020). Prior to Chattanooga, Ryan played his junior year at Vanderbilt (2018-19), and his freshman and sophomore years at Notre Dame (2015-17). He finished his collegiate career averaging 7.9 points, 2.5 rebounds and 0.9 assists over 18.9 minutes in 134 games (62 starts). Ryan was also earned First-Team Parade All-American and Mr. New York Basketball after averaging 20.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists as a senior in high school at Iona Prep.
