No. 3 Go-Go Advance To Second Round With Win Over No. 6 Mad Ants

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Capital City Go-Go, the NBA G League affiliate of the Washington Wizards, earned their second playoff victory in franchise history, defeating the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, 101-87, Tuesday night at the Entertainment and Sports Arena. With the win, the Go-Go advance to the second round of the NBA G League Playoffs.
The Go-Go started the game with a strong defensive effort, holding the Mad Ants to just 15 points in the first quarter and scoring 25 points themselves. At the start of the second quarter, the game was shaken up when Capital City’s Craig Sword and Fort Wayne’s Justin Anderson both got ejected within minutes of each other. The Go-Go held onto a narrow lead at the half up 48-43. After another strong defensive quarter in the third, the Go-Go began to pull away from the Mad Ants and held steady to claim the victory.
Washington Wizards two-way player Jay Huff tied the franchise record for rebounds in a single game with 20 boards and blocked 5 shots. He also finished the night with a double-double by scoring 16 points and had 6 assists. On the offensive side, three players scored 20+ points for the Go-Go, with Wizards two-way player Quenton Jackson leading the team with 22 points off the bench. Jules Bernard had a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds, and Devon Dotson nearly had a double-double with 21 points and 9 assists.
David Stockton and Tevin Brown led the Mad Ants in scoring with 20 points each, with Stockton ending the night with a double-double performance after dishing out 10 assists. Pedro Bradshaw also had a double-double off the bench with his 15-point, 10-rebound performance. Jermaine Samuels Jr. nearly had a triple-double with 10 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists.
The Go-Go will take on the second seed Delaware Blue Coats in the second round of the NBA G League Playoffs on Thursday, March 30 at 4:00 p.m. at Chase Fieldhouse, airing on ESPN2.
