Oklahoma City's Mark Daigneault Named 2023-24 NBA Coach Of The Year

Official Release /April 29, 2024

Oklahoma City Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault is the recipient of the Red Auerbach Trophy as the 2023-24 NBA Coach of the Year.

Daigneault, in his fourth season as the Thunder’s head coach, has been named the NBA Coach of the Year for the first time.  He becomes the second head coach to earn the honor with Oklahoma City, joining Scott Brooks (2009-10).

Under Daigneault, the Thunder went 57-25 in the regular season and tied for the best record in the Western Conference, earning the No. 1 playoff seed in the conference.  Oklahoma City became the youngest team (weighted by playing time) to finish with the best record (or tied for the best) in its conference since 1970-71, the first NBA season with Eastern and Western conferences.

The Thunder made a 17-win improvement from the 2022-23 season (40-42) and secured a playoff berth for the first time in four years.

Before coaching the Thunder, Daigneault spent five seasons as the head coach of the Oklahoma City Blue, the Thunder's G League affiliate.
