OSCEOLA MAGIC ACQUIRE RETURNING PLAYER RIGHTS FOR DAEQWON PLOWDEN

Kissimmee, FL – The Osceola Magic have acquired the returning player rights to guard/forward Daeqwon Plowden from the Birmingham Squadron in exchange for a first round pick in the 2024 NBA G League Player Draft, President of Osceola Magic Hans Steinbrenner announced today.

Plowden was acquired by Birmingham after going undrafted in the 2022 NBA Draft, following a stint on the New Orleans Pelicans 2022 NBA summer league team before being waived. He also played for the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2023 NBA summer league.

Plowden (6’6”, 216, 08/29/1998) played in 24 games in Birmingham last season, averaging 8.3 ppg., 3.5 rpg. and 1.3 apg. in 20.4 minpg., while shooting .368 (25-68) from three-point range and .862 (25-29) from the free throw line.

Plowden played in 154 games (113 starts) in five seasons at Bowling Green State University (2017-22), averaging 10.5 ppg. and 6.1 rpg., while shooting .443 (595-1344) from the field and .346 (144-416) from three-point range.

Plowden was named to the All-Mid-American Conference second-team in 2020 and was named to the third team in both 2021 and 2022. He was selected to the MAC AllDefensive team after averaging 1.2 blkpg. and 0.9 stlpg. in the 2021-22 season. He is BGSU’s all-time leader in games played (154) and never missed a game in his collegiate career. He is the only player in program history to record at least 1,200 points, 800 rebounds, and 100 blocked shots.
