Official Release /July 4, 2024
PHILADELPHIA – JULY 4, 2024 - Philadelphia 76ers President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey announced today that the team has signed Philadelphia native Justin Edwards to a two-way contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Edwards joins Philadelphia after spending one season at the University of Kentucky where he appeared in 32 games (30 starts), while averaging 8.8 points and 3.4 rebounds per contest. His 28 steals ranked third on the team and his 31 makes from beyond the arc were fourth. For the season, he shot nearly 49-percent from the field and just under 37-percent from three-point range.
His lone collegiate season was highlighted by a career-high 28-point outing versus Alabama on Feb. 24. He shot a perfect 10-10 from the floor, including 4-4 from three-point range, marking the third time in Kentucky history a player shot 100-percent from the floor on at least 10 attempts in a game.
Before suiting up for the Wildcats, Edwards led Philadelphia’s Imhotep Charter High School to consecutive Pennsylvania State titles in his junior and senior seasons. His high school success led to accolades including being named 2023 Mr. Pennsylvania Basketball and a 2023 McDonald’s All-American.
Edwards will represent the 76ers in the Salt Lake City Summer League along with the NBA 2K25 Summer League 2024 in Las Vegas.
