Rip City Remix Acquire Rights To Justin Minaya And A 2024 Second Round Draft Pick In Five-Team Trade

PORTLAND, Ore. (Oct. 18, 2023) – The Rip City Remix have acquired the returning player rights to Justin Minaya from the Mexico City Capitanes in a five-team trade, it was announced today by General Manager Danny Connors. Additionally, the Remix acquired a second round pick in the 2024 NBA G League Draft from the Santa Cruz Warriors (via Mexico City) in exchange for the returning player rights to Donovan Williams

Also as part of the five-team trade, only the second trade in G League history to include five teams, Mexico City sent the returning player rights to Caio Pacheco to the Capital City Go-Go, and the returning player rights to Derek Reese to the Windy City Bulls in exchange for the returning player rights to Ethan Thompson. The Capital City Go-Go also traded the returning player rights to Quenton Jackson to the Windy City Bulls and received a first round pick in the 2024 NBA G League Draft from the Santa Cruz Warriors. 

Minaya appeared in two games with the Portland Trail Blazers during the 2023-24 preseason. In four games with Portland last year, he averaged 4.3 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 22.3 minutes per game.

 Prior to signing a 10-day contract with the Trail Blazers last season, Minaya appeared in 44 G League games (30 starts) with Mexico City, averaging 11.0 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.2 blocks per game. He finished the 2022-23 regular season tied for third in the G League in steals (57) and tied for 11th in blocks (37). 

Williams was selected by the Remix in the 2023-24 NBA G League Expansion Draft on June 8 from the Long Island Nets. He appeared in two NBA games during the 2022-23 season with the Atlanta Hawks and 50 G League games (40 starts) with the College Park Skyhawks and Long Island Nets.
