Six Players To Watch Out For At Elite Camp

Joe DiProsperos /May 9, 2024

The 2024 NBA Draft presented by State Farm is just a little over a month away. As the pre-draft process continues to heat up, NBA prospects will be utilizing any and all opportunities they can to improve their stock.

This upcoming weekend’s NBA G League Elite Camp serves as a major part of the buildup to draft day. A total of 45 prospects will not only look to showcase their skills to NBA scouts and GMs, but also possibly earn an invite to this year’s NBA Draft Combine from May 12-19. From international prospects to college standouts, this year’s group features a wide array of NBA hopefuls.

Take a look at just some of the players worth keeping an eye on.

Caleb Love (Arizona)

Coming off a stellar college career across stints at North Carolina and Arizona, Love enters Elite Camp with a healthy amount of accolades to his name.

A five-star recruit and McDonald’s All-American out of high school, Love spent his first three years at North Carolina. As a sophomore, he finished second on the team in scoring (15.9 PTS) as he helped lead his team to a title game appearance in the 2022 NCAA tournament.

Upon transferring to Arizona for his senior season, Love finished as the Wildcats’ leading scorer (18.0 PTS) as he helped them earn a No. 2 seed and a Sweet 16 appearance in this past season’s NCAA tournament. His play helped him take home the final Pac-12 Player of the Year Award and be named AP Third Team All-American.

Jaedon LeDee (San Diego State)

The 2024 Karl Malone Award winner, which recognizes the top power forward in the country, LeDee made some serious noise at San Diego State following stints at Ohio State and TCU.

After coming off the bench during his first season with the Aztecs, the 6-foot-9 big man put together a dominant 2023-24 season as a starter. LeDee led the team in both scoring (21.4 PTS) and rebounding (8.4 REB) en route to a Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA tournament. At season’s end, he was named an AP Third Team All-American as well as First Team All-Mountain West.

Enrique Freeman (Akron)

Following a year that saw him take home MAC Player of the Year honors as well as be named an AP All-American Honorable Mention, Freeman will look to build on that momentum throughout his pre-draft process.

The 6-foot-7 Freeman was a force in the paint throughout his career at Akron. No player in all of NCAA D-I play grabbed more rebounds per game (12.9) or logged more double-doubles (31) than Freeman during the 2023-24 season. He was named to the MAC All-Defensive team four years in a row and took home the MAC Defensive Player of the Year award in 2022. He also was twice named First Team All-MAC and earned the MAC tournament MVP in 2022 and 2024.

Isaiah Stevens (Colorado State)

Colorado State’s leading scorer each of the past two seasons, Stevens has earned himself some extra consideration in the lead-up to the draft.

The standout guard was consistently one of the Mountain West Conference’s top players. Stevens averaged better than 15 points and 5 assists three of his last four seasons, earning First Team All-Mountain West honors in 2021, 2023 and 2024 in addition to being named the Mountain West Freshman of the Year in 2020. With Stevens leading the way, the Rams made two NCAA tournament appearances in 2022 and 2024.

Malique Lewis (Mexico City Capitanes)

A native of Trinidad & Tobago, Lewis is one of four G League representatives set to showcase their skills at Elite Camp this year.

Selected first overall in the 2023 NBA G League International Draft by the Mexico City Capitanes, Lewis showcased some strong two-way play. He averaged 9.0 PTS, 5.9 REB, 1.2 BLK and 1.2 STL in 34 games of regular season action, recording three games of 15+ points and 10+ rebounds in the process.

Jameer Nelson Jr. (TCU)

The son of former NBA All-Star and current Delaware Blue Coats GM Jameer Nelson, Nelson Jr. has put together a very impressive resume of his own.

The 6-foot-1 guard has certainly made a name for himself over the past three seasons. After two years at George Washington, Nelson Jr. transferred to Delaware where he was named Second Team All-CAA in 2022 and bumped up to First Team All-CAA the next season after averaging 20.6 PTS. After making the move to TCU for the 2023-24 season, Nelson Jr. led the team in steals (2.1 STL) and was second in scoring (11.2 PTS).
