Timberwolves Convert Johnny Juzang to Two-Way Contract

Minneapolis/St. Paul – The Minnesota Timberwolves today announced the team has converted guard Johnny Juzang to a two-way contract. Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not released. In a subsequent move, the team waived guard Tristen Newton.
Juzang, 6-7, has appeared in 102 games (23 starts) in three seasons with the Utah Jazz averaging 7.9 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.0 assist in 18.4 minutes per game. This past season, Juzang averaged career highs in points (8.9 ppg) and rebounds (2.9 rpg). On March 3, he scored a career-high-tying 27 points, knocking down five threes, while also pulling down a career-high-tying seven rebounds in a road win against the Wizards.
Most recently, during the preseason, Juzang appeared in five games for the Timberwolves, averaging 13.9 points on 50.0% shooting (25-of-50) including 48.3% from three (14-of-29) and 4.2 rebounds per game. His 14 three-point makes are tied for the most in the NBA this preseason.
The Los Angeles native appeared in 85 career collegiate games over three seasons with Kentucky and UCLA, earning 2021-22 All Pac-12 First Team honors and recording career averages of 11.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in 25.5 minutes per contest. Juzang played in nine career NCAA Tournament games, averaging 19.3 points and 4.6 rebounds, helping lead UCLA to the Final Four in 2021 and earning 2021 NCAA Final Four All-Tournament Team honors.
