Vipers Acquire Returning Player Rights To Nate Hinton

EDINBURG, Texas (Oct. 18, 2023) – The Rio Grande Valley Vipers announced today that the team has acquired the returning player rights to Nate Hinton from the Cleveland Charge in a three-team trade. In exchange, RGV has agreed to trade the returning player rights to Louis King to the South Bay Lakers and its first and second-round picks in the 2024 draft to Cleveland. Additionally, the Lakers have agreed to trade the returning player rights to Fabian White to the Charge and its first-round pick in the 2024 draft to the Vipers. This trade is not subject to a physical.
Hinton (6-5, 210) last played for Cleveland during the 2022-23 season. He averaged 12.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.5 steals in 27 games.
During the 2021-22 season he spent time with Fort Wayne averaging 18.1 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 2.2 steals in 33 games. That same season Hinton signed a 10-day contract with the Indiana Pacers and appeared in two games.
He signed a two-way with the Dallas Mavericks during the 2020-21 season. He played in 21 games for the Mavericks and appeared in 12 games between Santa Cruz and Long Island averaging 9.7 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.0 steals.
In 2020 Hinton became eligible for the 2020 NBA Draft following his sophomore season at the University of Houston. During his tenure at Houston, he played in 68 games averaging 8.8 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.2 steals.
King appeared in 18 games, 17 of which he started, for the Vipers during the 2022-23 G League Showcase Cup. He averaged 19.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.6 steals per game with the Vipers before signing a two-way with the Philadelphia 76ers.
