Vipers Crowned Western Conference Champions

Sioux Falls, S.D. (April 2, 2023) – The Rio Grande Valley Vipers (3-0), the NBA G League affiliate of the Houston Rockets, earned a 110-105 victory over the Sioux Falls Skyforce (2-1) on Sunday night at Sanford Arena during the Western Conference Finals of the 2023 NBA G League Playoffs presented by Google Pixel. 

Sioux Falls jumped to a quick 6-2 lead to open up the quarter. RGV then came from behind and tied the match 14-14 with less than three minutes to go in the quarter. The Vipers then pulled away with a 22-20 lead at the end of the first.

The Vipers had a 31-25 lead, but Sioux Falls went on a 7-0 run and took a 32-31 lead. RGV scored one more basket making the score 33-32 in favor of the visiting team, but the Skyforce then went on an 8-0 run and jumped to a 40-33 lead with 6:03 left in the quarter. Sioux Falls maintained the lead throughout the quarter and went into halftime with a 48-46 lead over the Vipers. 

During the third quarter Sioux Falls started with the lead and closed the quarter with a 77-72 advantage. 

Skyforce started with the lead in the fourth quarter, but with less than six minutes to go RGV came from behind and took an 86-85 lead. The Vipers then ran away with the lead and earned a 110-105 victory. 

The Vipers will take on the Delaware Blue Coats in the NBA G League Finals. Game one will take place on Tuesday, April 4 at Delaware with an 8:00PM CT tip-off. Game two will be at RGV on Thursday, April 6 with a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
