2024 NBA Draft Profile: Ron Holland

A consensus five-star prospect out of Dallas, TX, Ron Holland was ranked as the No. 2 player in the class of 2023. The Duncansville High School product was named the 2022-23 Gatorade Texas Boys Basketball Player of the Year after averaging 20.3 points, 10.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.0 steals while leading Duncanville High School to a 29-1 record during his senior year. That came after Holland helped lead his team to back-to-back state titles his freshman and sophomore seasons as well as a state title game appearance his junior year. The 18-year-old was selected as a 2023 McDonald’s High School All-American and also earned a spot on the U.S. Team for the 2023 Nike Hoop Summit.
After originally considering multiple NCAA offers, the 6-foot-8 forward ultimately decided to turn pro and join Ignite. Across Showcase Cup and Regular Season action, he led the team in scoring (19.5 PTS) and steals per game (2.4 STL) while also recording 6.7 REB. He had 15 games with at least 20 points and 5 rebounds as well as eight performances with 25+ points, always showing off his excellent ability to score while driving to the basket in addition to his top-tier defensive skills. Despite missing the back end of the season, Holland led Ignite in scoring 13 times and recorded 2+ steals in 20 of his 29 games played.

Top Performance:
Holland’s two-way skill set was on full display on Dec. 1 against the Stockton Kings, when he set career highs in both points (32) and steals (6) in addition to recording 10 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 blocks. He was perfect from the free-throw line (5/5 FT) and his 60 percent shooting from the floor (12-of-20) matched his single-game season-high as well.

Although he did not play due to injury, Holland was selected to participate in the Panini Rising Stars games as well as the NBA G League Up Next Game presented by AT&T during All-Star Weekend.
